The Drum ran a piece this month about freelancers (Recommended Freelancers: Ringing The Changes) and yours truly made there recomended list, which was nice.
From the Drum:
"As the creative industries continue their recovery from the depths of recession there has perhaps never been a more important time for a talented crop of freelancers to the fill the gaps left by the cuts..."
Hmmm... maybe. Or perhaps there is a little more to it. Ex-agency staff and their clients are now both realising the benefits of a different way of working (dispersed teams, agile thinking, lean business, collaboration, crowdsourcing). And that way of working just breaks the agency model. Clients get a better service because they deal directly with the people working on their project and it costs them less money... which is also nice. Definitely interesting times ahead.

Completely agree!
I have been thinking for a while now that the agency of the future is a one man band. A ‘conductor’ that (project)manages all the freelance parties involved and oversees the crowdsourced sub-projects.
